W.H. Auden’s Funeral Blues begins “Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephones”. On February 21, 2019 with news of the passing of our colleague Brian Wright, the clocks stopped, and the telephones were cut off, at Fasken.
A lateral hire in 2002, Brian was a foundational member of our Banking Group. Brian was an exceptional lawyer, a rare mix of keen intellect, grace and self-deprecatory humour. A mentor to many both inside and outside our walls, he wore his mantle of leadership easily. Brian was central to any number of client relationships, none more so than being the root of our longstanding relationship with Scotiabank.
Brian was revered by his colleagues, respected by his peers and trusted by his clients. If so moved, a contribution in Brian’s memory can be made to either Dying with Dignity or Rainbow Railway. We extend our deepest condolences to Brian’s wife, Lisa, and his children Jonathan, Lauren and Danny.
