Overview

Portrait of late Fasken partner Darrell Wickstrom

We are saddened to report the sudden passing of our friend and colleague, Darrell Wickstrom.

Darrell’s professional life has been entirely with Fasken since he commenced his articles in 1988. Darrell’s sudden passing is a great loss to the firm and his clients. He was a stellar lawyer who always provided sound, sage and sensible advice that made him a highly-regarded advisor.

Darrell graduated from UBC law school after earning a political science degree. As a junior associate, he worked as a foreign lawyer in Japan for a couple of years and developed a love of the Japanese culture. In the mid-90s, he started to specialize in the tax, trust and estates area and became a leader within the firm and legal community in that practice. Darrell taught succession at the UBC Law School for almost a decade and held many charitable board positions throughout his career.

While his work consumed a large part of his life, Darrell had an array of varied interests, including: politics; music; cars; and entertainment. Everyone who interacted with Darrell experienced his kindness, good humour and wisdom that was always delivered in an unassuming and humble manner. These characteristics made him always highly-sought after, by both clients and colleagues alike. Darrell’s presence will be very much missed within Fasken.
