Jon Holmstrom's practice is focused on corporate and commercial banking transactions, cross-border acquisition financing, project finance (mining, wind power and infrastructure), derivative products, corporate loan workouts and restructurings and securitizations. He was also the former Leader of the firm’s Banking & Finance group.
Jon provides strategic advice to both financial institutions and commercial borrowers across a multiplicity of industries.
Current mandates include the $750 million warehouse facility for MCAP and the $400 million revolver for Timbercreek and $310 million revolver for Shawcor. Notable recent wind power project finance experience includes acting for the sponsors in the $825 million financing of the Niagara Region Wind Farm.
Jon is actively involved in structuring and documenting financial, equity and commodity derivative transactions for financial institutions, mutual funds and other end-users. Representative transactions include equity basket forward transactions for Mackenzie Financial Corporation in establishing its Managed Yield Program in 2001 and for Beta Pro in establishing its ETF Program in 2007.
Jon has written on topics including international lending transactions, the Personal Property Security Act, the Securities Transfer Act, letters of credit and derivative products. His practice is recognized by Lexpert, Chambers Global, Chambers Canada, the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and IFLR1000.
