Canadian companies are looking to expand their export businesses beyond their traditional markets, and European nations are increasingly seeking to diversify their sourcing of property and services globally.
This is the perfect opportunity for Canadians to begin selling into Europe, but regardless of whether they are selling auto parts or other tangible goods, computer software or other intangibles, or any type of services, there are special Canadian GST/HST rules that will need to be dealt with at the time of export and there will be VAT rules to be dealt with at the time of import into a European country.
This session will explore key Canadian, EU, and Swiss laws relating to these issues, including the following:
- Minimizing unrecoverable Canadian taxes at the time of export.
- Overview of the various EU and Swiss VAT regimes and potential registrations and simplifications:
- Supplies of property
- B2B supplies
- B2C supplies
