A member of the Ontario and Quebec bars, Sébastien Lorquet is a lawyer, strategist and negotiator with more than 20 years experience assisting employers with their most challenging human resources issues. He assists the firm's clients with a wide range of issues relating to labour relations, grievance arbitration, union certification, strikes, dismissals, corporate policies, personnel management, restructuring, human rights and labour standards.
Sébastien has extensive experience in the education sector, where he has advised both French and English school boards. He also represents employers in other federally and provincially regulated sectors, including health care, telecommunications, technology, manufacturing and retail. He is passionate, attentive to his clients' needs and determined to ensure their success. Associations and not-for-profit organizations also appreciate his proactive services and strategic approach to their issues.
He also has extensive experience in the application and interpretation of the legislative framework in labour and employment law, including the Employment Standards Act and the Labour Standards Act, the Ontario Labour Relations Act, the Canadian Human Rights Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Canada Labour Code, the Quebec Labour Code, the Ontario Education Act and the Ontario School Boards Collective Bargaining Act.
A proud Franco-Ontarian, Sébastien is involved with community and charitable organizations. He has served on several boards, including as President of the Festival Franco-Ontarien from 2007 to 2013. Since 2019, he has chaired the major fundraising campaign for the new Mouvement d'implication francophone d'Orléans (MIFO). His community involvement has earned him numerous distinctions, including the 2015 Ordre de la Pléiade awarded by the Ontario section of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie.
