Overview

Fasken Martineau's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Law Group is pleased to invite you to its Breakfast Seminar Series. This second conference will address topical issues in this evolving field and are intended for all professionals who want to enhance and update their legal knowledge and will provide great networking opportunities.

Social License to Operate: Best Practices in Stakeholder Engagement

What is a social license to operate (SLO)? One of the challenges in defining, obtaining and holding onto a SLO is that it is not a piece of paper, there is no issuing organization or agency, and it remains a subjective concept. We will discuss how this concept is now part of every major project and is becoming an imperative in obtaining legal permits, as well as accessing project financing. We will present best practices and challenges in stakeholder engagement leading to a SLO in North America and abroad, and, specifically, in projects involving First Nations.
