Chad has extensive experience navigating complex and high-stakes legal disputes including contracts, urgent injunctions, shareholder disputes, construction and real estate claims, and product liability issues. He supports clients across a variety of industries with experience in automotive, transportation, logistics, technology, healthcare, financial services, and mining.
With a keen ability to analyze complex legal issues, Chad guides clients through commercial disputes from inception to resolution, allowing them to stay focused on their broader business goals. He is often called upon to do so in tight time frames when clients need to make, or respond to, demands for injunctive relief.
Chad advocates for clients at the Court of Appeal, Superior Court, and before a variety of arbitral tribunals, leveraging his extensive experience and strategic outlook to achieve favorable outcomes.
He has significant knowledge in e-discovery and the use of modern technology to enhance his ability to manage complex litigation efficiently and effectively. Chad leveraged this skillset as part of a team that achieved a landmark result in Harris v BMW, 2024 ONSC 2341, the leading case on the interplay between foreign data protection laws, such as the GDPR, and the discovery obligations required of litigants in Ontario litigation.
Chad is an active volunteer in the legal community. He dedicates time for Pro Bono Ontario’s Legal Advice Hotline and has maintained carriage over pro bono files for underserved clients throughout his career including Alessandro v Briggs, and he mentors high school students as part of the Law in Action Within Schools program.
Outside of law, Chad can be found playing ultimate frisbee, pretending he is a professional photographer, or preaching the benefits of Lycra for cycling.
