Corina Weigl is Co-Leader of the Private Client Service group at Fasken LLP. Her practice is focused on estate and family business succession planning. She develops customized strategies for wills, trusts, and tools designed to protect a client's property, such as domestic contracts, Corina leverages legal and tax regimes to protect multi-jurisdictional property and family interests. She is also active in the Firm, having recently held the positions of Chair of the Firm’s Professional Development Committee, Vice-Chair of the Business Law Section and elected member of the Firms Compensation Committee.
Corina relies on a variety of tools to implement structures designed to facilitate a successful estate and business succession plan for clients. She also provides strategic advice to executors, trustees and beneficiaries in respect of ongoing administration issues or when faced with estate litigation regarding fiduciary accounts.
Corina also advises on charities and not-for-profit considerations, advising clients on legislative, tax and regulatory implications of their philanthropic goals.
Corina was a 2023 recipient of (i) the STEP Worldwide Founder’s Award and (ii) the Michael Cadesky Volunteer of the Year Award for STEP Canada, both of which recognize members who have made an exceptional and outstanding long-term contribution to the organizations. She was also named the 2017 “Lawyer of the Year” for Trusts and Estates in Toronto by Best Lawyers in Canada and recognized with Lexpert’s “Zenith Award” for her pro bono work for SEDI.
