Overview

Fasken Martineau's Symposium provides lawyers with educational seminars for continuing professional development. This complimentary half-day event will help you achieve up to three hours of education that can be applied towards CPD requirements of the Ontario Law Society of Upper Canada.

  • Learn from recognized legal professionals
  • Network with your peers as you study alongside them
  • Speak and consult with our lawyers

Our complimentary event has plenty to offer! Our theme for the annual symposium is to address five legal issues, in a variety of subject areas, that you may not have known you had but that are commonly encountered on a day to day basis.

Topics will include discussion of the following questions:

  • Have I done enough to prevent liability arising from use of third-party content or trade-marks in social media and online advertising?
  • What’s the benefit of a shareholders’ agreement - all three of us are good friends and will be forever?
  • I am doing business outside Canada - has my company been engaged in foreign bribery practices?
  • As a government official can I accept an invitation to lunch or does it put me in a conflict of interest?
  • I thought spoof, phish, harvest and spam were food-related products - are they really concerns under the anti-spam legislation?
  • Is social media causing risk to my business reputation?
