Overview

The common law requires that employers give employees working notice of dismissal, or pay in lieu of such notice. While most employers today opt for the latter, the option of providing working notice is often overlooked.
This session will discuss working notice, and what employers need to know about it. In particular:

  • The benefits and advantages working notice offers to employers
  • The risks and drawbacks to providing working notice
  • Strategies employers can adopt to limit the risks of working notice and to make it beneficial to employers and departing employees alike
