As many parts of the country face a surge in infections and the prospect of more waves of COVID-19 cases over the coming year, remote work has not only become reality for many workplaces, but increasingly a regulated requirement in Canada. With vaccines still many months away for most Canadians, remote workplaces will continue to be the new normal for the foreseeable future.

In this webinar, we will discuss practical issues arising from the management of a remote workforce.

Specific topics include:

  • Who should versus could be working from home?
  • The impact of provincial regulations mandating remote work, employment standards leaves and human rights issues
  • Addressing overtime, discipline and performance management issues unique to a remote workforce
  • Occupational health and safety and workers’ compensation considerations
  • Best practices when implementing work from home policies
  • Preliminary thoughts on vaccines and testing requirements as employers consider an eventual return of the workforce
