Employers across Canada face a new array of challenges in managing their workforce during the COVID-19 pandemic. One such challenge which continues to be discussed is navigating the management of mental health disabilities in the workplace. In this seminar, we will review the landscape of mental health disability management and canvas common issues and challenges that employers face in their day-to-day workforce management of mental health disabilities during the pandemic, all while equipping employers with practical tools to succeed in creating and maintaining effective disability management practices and supporting employees during these unprecedented times.

Specific topics include:

  • The rise of mental health conditions during the pandemic
  • The impact on the workplace and building awareness
  • The legal framework for managing mental health disabilities, including the duty to accommodate
  • Principles and issues when requesting medical information from employees
  • Strategies for supporting employees’ mental health during the pandemic
