Canada’s major banks are now focused on supporting clients advancing their sustainability strategy, notably with the structuring of Sustainability-Linked Loans (“SLL”) in the Metals & Mining (M&M) sector. This panel will include senior representation from the industry including Erfan Kazemi (CFO of Sandstorm Gold), Justine Fisher (Treasurer for Teck Resources), Daniel Horton (Vice President Finance and Treasurer, Newmont Corporation) as well as Magali Gable from BMO’s Sustainable Finance Group. The discussion will encompass sustainability in the M&M sector through the lenses of ESG financing, benefits and challenges of structuring such SLL, including how to approach the “key performance indicators” necessary for a mining company to be in a position to tap a SLL as well as other ESG considerations.
