There is widespread acknowledgement that the time taken to permit projects can be a significant hurdle. Nowhere is this issue more prominent than with respect to critical minerals. We know that Canada has the critical minerals, but can we get them to market in time to keep up with our aspirations and commitments. One of the candidates put forward as a part of the solution to permitting delays has been supporting “Indigenous Equity”. Finding a way for the relevant Indigenous Government to take equity in projects is not simple. Our session will discuss the context around Indigenous Equity as well as practical issues in actually implementing this as part of a solution to the project permitting quandary.
