Canadian privacy laws continue to change as the federal government re-imagines the legislative framework. This presentation explores the modernization of the federal privacy regime contemplated by Bill C-27, the Digital Charter Implementation Act, 2022. It will highlight changes that will impact companies that use technology to process personal information – including in relation to privacy management programs, retention and de-identification/anonymization of information, and the use of service providers. Given the severe penalties for non-compliance, this presentation will provide practical suggestions on how to prepare for the new requirements if Bill C-27 passes.
