July 2023 was Earth’s hottest month ever on record and 2023 was Canada’s worst wildfire season in history. With the intensification of the manifestations of climate change, stakeholders are becoming more eager for corporate action. The risk of being criticized for greenwashing for saying too much about actions to tackle climate change is real. At the same time, remaining silent is no longer an option. Our panel of experts will provide an overview of emerging legal risks and developments in the climate-related regulatory landscape impacting corporations in Canada, including recent developments on climate-related financial disclosures, trends in litigation and regulatory enforcement action as well as the role of carbon markets in corporate climate change strategies.
