A continued statistical rise in hate against the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and particularly the transgender and gender diverse community, has reinforced the need and legal obligation to support transgender and gender diverse employees in the workplace.
By reviewing recent case law, findings and statistics from the Employment Equity Task Force Report and employer policies and procedures, this webinar will outline key supports for transgender and gender diverse employees in the workplace.
We will review various recent cases of interest ranging from employee harassment and discrimination, including misgendering and deadnaming, and discuss how employers can best educate both management and employees on this ever-changing landscape. We will also review cases demonstrating the risks of failing to conduct adequate investigations into employee complaints as well as cases showing the importance of education on terminology.
