On November 12, 2025, Frugal AI (“Frugal”), a Canadian cloud and AI applications startup, closed a US$5 million seed financing round led by Whitecap Venture Partners, with participation from Mistral Venture Partners and angel investors including founders of Snyk and CloudCheckr.
Frugal’s Application Cost Engineering platform helps developers and FinOps teams reduce rising cloud and AI costs by analyzing application code and providing automated optimizations before deployment.
The company will use the funds to accelerate product development and prepare for its commercial launch in Q1 2026.
Fasken advised Whitecap Venture Partners with a team led by Marc Shewchun and Satnam Singh Dosanjh.
