Fasken is part of a partnership of 14 leading Canadian law firms that have committed $1.75 million to the ground-breaking Black Future Lawyers Program (BFL). BFL provides support and engagement opportunities to Black undergraduate students who aspire to become lawyers. It was formed by the University of Toronto (U of T) Faculty of Law in January 2020 in collaboration with the school’s Black Law Students’ Association, its Black alumni, and the greater legal community. BFL offers mentoring programs, opportunities to attend workshops at U of T Law, and an annual conference. Its goal is to increase the number of Black students who attend law school and join the legal profession.
