Isabelle Bertrand is a lawyer in the Labour, Employment and Human Rights group in Montréal. As part of her practice, Isabelle advises and represents clients in various aspects of employment law, including collective or individual labour relations, and matters involving private or public sector employers, under federal or provincial law.
In particular, Isabelle advises employers on human capital management issues, such as occupational health and safety, hiring and termination, drafting and interpreting employment contracts and internal policies, disciplinary actions and labour management. She also provides advice with respect to collective agreement interpretation, grievance arbitration and human rights and freedoms.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Isabelle completed a bachelor’s degree in industrial relations at the Université de Montréal and worked for nearly two years as part of Fasken’s human resources team. She has been a member of the Order of Certified Human Resources Professionals (CHRP/CHRA) since 2022.
During her university studies at the Université de Montréal, Isabelle was involved in various ways in the law faculty, including as Chair of the business and management law committee (Comité de droit des affaires et de gestion). She was also Vice-Chair of the faculty’s labour law committee (Comité droit du travail) for two years. In addition to her interest in labour law, she has a passion for both triathlons and aviation. She even completed a course in Aviation Fundamentals at the University of Waterloo during the pandemic.
