Jean-François Trudelle is a member of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution group at the Montréal office. He works mainly in the civil and commercial litigation field.
As part of his practice, Jean-François advises and represents clients in disputes related to contracts, construction law, government procurement, and product liability. He is also interested in private dispute prevention and resolution processes, such as arbitration, to better advise his clients on the best forum for resolving their disputes.
Jean-François has worked on the following significant matters:
- Represented Intact in the dismissal by the Superior Court of Québec and the Court of Appeal of Québec of an application for authorization to institute a class action related to business interruption insurance and the closures due to COVID-19.
- Represented a New York-based investment fund in arbitration award homologation proceedings, while also securing a significant order for extrajudicial costs.
- Represented Litostroj inc. in an $18 million claim against the company following the cancellation of a subcontract for the design, manufacture and installation of 12 turbine generator sets.
Prior to joining Fasken, Jean-François worked at a national corporate and commercial law firm, where his practice focused primarily on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and public and private financing. He represented and advised specialized firms in the investment and marketing sectors.
