Jules Arsenault is a lawyer in our Tax group at the Montréal office, where he advises clients on income tax, commodity tax and the application of specific tax laws, whether in transactions or in disputes with provincial and federal tax authorities.
His day-to-day involves developing complex tax strategies and planning in a variety of situations, including mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations and corporate restructurings. Jules also advises clients on tax considerations relating to financing mining companies through a flow-through share system. Part of his practice is also focused on analyzing specific tax concepts, such as tobacco, fuel and insurance premium taxes.
Jules holds a Bachelor’s degree in law from the Université de Sherbrooke and was listed on the Dean’s list throughout his law studies, which speaks to the excellence of his academic performance. He also holds a Master’s degree in business administration from the Université de Sherbrooke and a Master’s degree in tax law from HEC Montréal.
In addition to his practice, Jules sits on the board of directors of the Caisse Desjardins de L’Île-des-Soeurs-Verdun as a next-generation director.
