Martin is a lawyer practising in the area of banking and finance with a focus on Acquisition Financings. He regularly represents major Canadian private equity firms and is well versed in identifying trends in acquisition financing documentation. Martin is also deeply involved in representing major Canadian Arrangers and Underwriters in syndicated transactions.
He is also heavily involved in continuing education. As such, from 2017 to 2023 he led the American Bar Association’s Commercial Finance Syndications and Lender Relations Subcommittee, first as Vice Chair and then as Chair. He is a member of the Commercial Finance Programs Committee of the American Bar Association, and is a Fellow and Regent of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers.
Martin is also the proud father to two young children, the oldest of whom is on the autistic spectrum, which has led Martin to involve himself in the community to be a voice and an ally for neurodivergent individuals. As such, he has been involved as a director of MAIH (Montreal Association for the Intellectually Handicapped) for the past 5 years.
