Montréal (Canada) – Fasken Martineau, a leading international business law and litigation firm, is proud to announce that partners Éric Bédard, Robert Girard and Robert Paré from the Montréal office participated in the 8th annual Grand défi Pierre Lavoie (GDPL) event this past weekend.
Travelling from Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean to Montréal, this major endeavour kicked off on June 16, with a number of cyclists biking 1,000 kilometers in 60 hours. Each cycling team was invited to partner with one or more elementary schools and in return, the GDPL donated all funds raised in excess of the team registration fees to the sponsored schools. All proceeds from the event are donated to the GDPL Foundation to support hereditary orphan disease research and projects promoting healthy life habits.
Fasken Martineau partners were part of the Boscus/Macogep/Fasken 2 team which sponsored three elementary schools from Montréal: École Saint-Clément, École Saint-Anselme and École Marie-de-l’Incarnation.
“This is my second participation to the Grand défi Pierre Lavoie, and I could not be more proud of the firm and our team,” said Éric Bédard, Managing Partner of the Québec Region. “We showed great stamina and determination, and seeing the positive impacts of the funds we raised makes it all worthwhile.” In 2015, the GDPL redistributed $1,9M to 353 primary schools.
As part of its community involvement, both collectively and individually, Fasken Martineau’s lawyers and staff give of their time and money by participating in charitable activities, serving on a great number of boards and committees, and fundraising for charities.
