Fasken Martineau won top marks for "Private Equity Tax Deal of the Year" for advising on Catalyst Fund Limited Partnership V

Toronto (Canada) – Fasken Martineau has won top marks at the International Tax Review’s Americas Tax Awards, taking the prize for “Private Equity Tax Deal of the Year” for advising on Catalyst Fund Limited Partnership V.

Awards were given to firms and networks that demonstrated the most innovative client work in North and South America between June 2015 and June 2016.

The private equity award acknowledges Fasken Martineau’s leading-edge work on the Catalyst Fund Limited Partnership V, Canada’s second-largest private equity investment management firm, specialized in control and influence investments in distressed and under-valued Canadian situations. The Fund received strong backing from a diverse group of investors which included public and corporate pensions, university endowments, foundations, family offices, and financial institutions located across the US, Europe, Canada and Asia, surpassing its target of US$1.25 billion and its hard cap of US$1.5 billion.
