Vancouver (Canada) – Amy Carruthers, a Partner at Fasken, has won a 2018 Lexpert Zenith Award for Mid-Career Excellence in the Legal Profession; Practice Area of Aboriginal Law.
The award was presented last night at a gala dinner in Toronto. Lexpert recognizes the outstanding achievements of Canada’s best lawyers annually with the Lexpert Zenith Awards.
Amy is a leading Aboriginal and business law lawyer based in Vancouver, and is a member of Fasken’s Indigenous Law Group and Global Energy Group. She is one of the few commercial lawyers with significant expertise advising on the development of consultation and accommodation plans, and negotiation of consultation, funding and impact benefit agreements with First Nations and other Aboriginal groups. She also drafts and negotiates complex commercial contracts regarding the purchase and sale of energy, investments in and other transactions involving resource projects, as well as relationships with Indigenous communities to foster reconciliation and facilitate project development.
A strong advocate for women, Amy is involved with the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs, is a mentor to junior women lawyers in the CBA Women Lawyer’s Forum, and a former director of the BC Women in Energy Network. She is also a significant supporter of other organizations advancing the interests of women, including Women in Leadership and The Minerva Foundation for BC Women.
