Overview

Johannesburg (South Africa) – Johannesburg Partner, Ludwig Frahm-Arp, was re-elected as the National President for the South African Society of Labour Law (SASLAW) in the third quarter of 2019. Ludwig, along with his fellow committee members, will serve the SASLAW community, a non-profit organization made up of more than 1450 members, for another year. The aim of the Society is to promote the advancement of labour law as a legal and academic discipline, and encourage collaboration between lawyers and other experts within the field of labour law.

In 2018, Ludwig, along with a past National President of SASLAW, visited Toronto for the launch of a fellowship program between the University of Toronto and SASLAW. This initiative entails students from the university spending time in South Africa assisting with the SASLAW Pro Bono Project.

Earlier in 2019, SASLAW was delighted to have welcomed three law students from the University of Toronto to Johannesburg. This opportunity has allowed them to learn more about the field of labour law and dedicate their time to pro bono labour law matters in South Africa.

The students have also had the opportunity to visit and learn from the Johannesburg office Labour, Employment & Human Rights practice group.
