Toronto (Canada) – Aubrey E. Kauffman has been named a Fellow of the Insolvency Institute of Canada (IIC), the country’s premier private sector insolvency organization dedicated to the recognition and promotion of excellence in the discipline. The prestigious recognition celebrates Aubrey’s contributions to the organization as well as his prominence in the industry.
Recognition as a Fellow of the IIC is granted by the Board of Directors to long-standing members who are prominent members of the insolvency community and furthered the growth and development of the IIC through active participation in its activities and programs.
Aubrey has been active on committees and the board of the IIC for many years. In those roles he has played a meaningful part in shaping the IIC, including forming the interventions subcommittee which has been granted leave to intervene in numerous appeals over the last few years on issues important to Insolvency law. Aubrey is a partner in Fasken’s Toronto office with the Insolvency and Restructuring group. His practice is focused on advocacy matters related to domestic and cross-border bankruptcy, insolvency and restructuring proceedings. He is a past director of the Insolvency Institute of Canada and past Chair of the Ontario Bar Association - Insolvency Section. An Adjunct Professor of Law at Osgoode Hall Law School, Aubrey has been recognized by Chambers Canada, the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and Who’s Who Legal. He was also awarded the 2019 Ontario Bar Association Murray Klein Award for Excellence in Insolvency Law.
Acting in many high-profile insolvency proceedings, Aubrey has advised a variety of stakeholders including court officers, debtors, directors and officers, creditors at all levels of the capital structure and government agencies.
