Toronto (Canada) – Fasken received four major awards at the eighth annual LMG Life Sciences Awards ceremony, held virtually on September 23. Awards are presented to firms, individuals and companies behind the most innovative and challenging life sciences work in the past year.
The Firm was named winner in the following categories:
- Canadian Product Liability Firm of the Year 2020
- Life Cycle Firm of the Year – Canada 2020
- Canadian Impact Deal of the Year 2020
Fasken Partner Timothy Squire was named Canadian Regulatory Attorney of the Year 2020.
Tim is the former Chair of Fasken’s International Life Sciences Industry group and is a trusted advisor to stakeholders in the drug, medical device, natural health product, cosmetic and food industries in Canada and around the world. This is the third time Tim has been honoured with this award in the last seven years.
Widely recognized as one of the top product liability firms in Canada, Fasken has been named Canadian Life Sciences Product Liability Firm of the Year for four of the past seven years. Led by Peter Pliszka, Chair of the Firm’s Product Liability group and Co-Leader of the Life Sciences group, Fasken is regularly retained as national counsel to defend pharmaceutical, medical device and food companies in product liability lawsuits – both class actions and individual lawsuits – across Canada. Fasken lawyers also regularly work collaboratively with US counsel to provide clients with cost-efficient and strategic legal representation when parallel legal proceedings are launched by plaintiffs’ counsel on both sides of the border.
Fasken received the award for Canadian Impact Deal of the Year 2020 for its work on the GenePOC sale to Meridian Bioscience. The team representing GenePOC in this transaction was led by Sylvie Bourdeau and composed of Serge Lapointe, PhD, Kadiatou Sow, Antonella Penta, Jonathan Poulin, Laurence Déry, Jean-Philippe Mikus, Sébastien Roy, Jean-Raphaël Champagne, Alain Ranger and Pierre-Olivier Charlebois.
