Toronto (Canada) - Five Fasken Partners have been named as Lexpert Rising Stars for 2021. Ponora Ang, Jon Conlin, Zohaib Maladwala, Caitlin Rose and Caroline Youdan have all been recognized.

Ponora Ang is an experienced civil and commercial litigator who is Co-Leader of the Firm’s Global China Group. He counsels and represents clients in product liability, real estate sale, leasing, construction and franchise law. He has pleaded before various levels of courts in numerous complex cases. In addition to his practice in litigation, many investors from China and South-East Asia seek Ponora’s advice for their projects in Canada. He also advises frequently state-owned enterprises, private companies and individuals from Asia for their implantation and operations in Canada.
Jon Conlin is a business lawyer with a focus on corporate finance, M&A, venture capital and technology law. Jon regularly assists various emerging and high growth companies (and the investors that back them) in the cleantech, industrial technology, life sciences and information technology sectors. Jon also serves as a director or officer in a number of companies in those sectors, with BC based technology industry organizations, and in not-for-profit organizations.
Zohaib Maladwala is a commercial litigator with expertise in class actions and product liability litigation. Zohaib provides practical, business focused advice to multinational clients across a variety of industries including life sciences, industrial and consumer products, automotive, banking and professional/financial services. He has significant class actions experience, particularly in the defence of product liability and competition/antitrust actions.
Caitlin Rose is co-leader of the Private Equity Group and practices business law with an emphasis on mergers & acquisitions and capital markets. Her practice focuses largely on private equity & venture capital investments, add-ons and divestitures, as well as cross-border M&A. She also regularly acts on behalf of public companies and underwriters, in going public transactions, securities offerings and general securities matters. Caitlin works closely with some of Québec’s largest private equity firms, as well as their portfolio companies, in M&A activities, reorganizations and serving in a day-to-day advisory capacity.
Caroline Youdan’s practice is focused on advanced legal research, legal analysis and written advocacy. She advises colleagues and clients in a variety of matters, including class actions, product liability and complex commercial disputes. Before joining Fasken, Caroline practiced as an Associate in the New York office of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison LLP, where she represented clients in a range of litigation matters, including complex securities litigation, white-collar defence and regulatory enforcement matters, and internal investigations. In 2008, Caroline clerked for Justice Abella at the Supreme Court of Canada.
