Montreal (Canada) – Noted Fasken Montreal lawyer Sébastien Richemont has been selected as a Fellow of The Litigation Counsel of America, a prestigious trial-lawyer honorary society.
Sébastien Richemont is a partner in Fasken’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution group. Specializing in commercial litigation, he advises clients in arbitration, class actions, manufacturer’s and professional liability, contractual and construction litigations, disputes between shareholders and securities matters.
With more than 20 years of experience, Mr. Richemont is a seasoned and passionate litigator who has led a number of high-profile cases during his career. He has obtained favourable judgments in major cases in a variety of fields, such as energy, new technologies, class actions, manufacturer’s liability, securities, construction and contractual disputes. He has also represented creditors in the cross-Canada restructuring of the non-bank asset-backed commercial paper market (ABCP), where his clients had more than C$1 billion at stake.
In addition to his professional practice, Mr. Richemont frequently acts as a coach for trial advocacy training programs.
“I am honored to be selected as a Fellow of The Litigation Counsel of America,” Mr. Richemont said. “I look forward to joining my distinguished peers in furthering the association’s important mission to advance the excellence of litigation and trial counsel.”
Mr. Richemont is the ninth Fasken lawyer to be selected as a Fellow by the Litigation Counsel of America. The other Fasken Fellows are Tracey M. Cohen, Laura F. Cooper, Robert S. Harrison, Peter N. Mantas, Jason Markwell, Marek Nitoslawski, Peter J. Pliszka, and Samuel R. Rickett.
The Litigation Counsel of America is composed of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. Fellowship in the LCA is highly selective and by invitation only. Fellows are selected based upon excellence and accomplishment in litigation, both at the trial and appellate levels, and superior ethical reputation. The LCA is aggressively diverse in its composition. Established as a trial and appellate lawyer honorary society reflecting the American bar in the twenty-first century, the LCA represents the best in law among its membership. The number of Fellowships has been kept at an exclusive limit by design, allowing qualifications, diversity and inclusion to align effectively, with recognition of excellence in litigation across all segments of the bar. Fellows are generally at the partner or shareholder level, or are independent practitioners with recognized experience and accomplishment. In addition, the LCA is dedicated to promoting superior advocacy, professionalism and ethical standards among its Fellows.
