The Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Business Council of Canada, Embassy of Ukraine in Canada, Embassy of Canada in Ukraine and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade in Ukraine hosted the Rebuild Ukraine conference in Toronto on Nov. 23, 2022. Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister of Ukraine and Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance of Canada provided opening remarks.

Fasken co-sponsored the event with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Canada (PwC). Fasken’s Martin Denyes and PwC’s Chief Operating Officer, Alaina Tennison provided introductory remarks. Tetiana Berezhna, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yuliya Kovaliv, Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada and Larisa Galadza, Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine also spoke at the opening session. Fasken partners Gerry Ranking, Brian Kelsall, Ella Plotkin, Tom Barlow (infrastructure/P3), Janet Howard (corporate/energy), Will Shaw (emerging tech), and Gordon Raman (corporate/agribusiness) were in attendance along with several of our clients.
The conference showcased investment projects aimed at rebuilding and modernizing Ukraine. It also highlighted the tools and instruments offered by the World Bank, EBRD and EDC to support Canadian companies interested in investing in Ukraine.
