“Canadian acquitted of corrupting a foreign official charge due to insufficient evidence” by Steven Chase and Robert Fife, The Globe and Mail

The Globe and Mail quotes Ottawa counsel Patrick McCann and mentions Ottawa lawyer Nabila Abdul Malik in an article on the first-ever acquittal in bribery and corruption case.

This case is the first time a defendant charged under the Corruption of Foreign Officials Act has been acquitted by a Canadian court after being successfully defended, according to Patrick McCann, a counsel at Fasken who, along with fellow lawyer Nabila Abdul Malik, represented Mr. Arapakota. Other cases resulted in either convictions or pleas, he said.
