Overview

Johannesburg (South Africa) – Fasken announces the reappointment of partner Venolan Naidoo as the National President of the South African Society for Labour Law (SASLAW), in recognition of his leadership and unwavering dedication to the organisation. This reappointment comes on the heels of a year filled with significant accomplishments and milestones for SASLAW.

Over the past 12 months, SASLAW has achieved remarkable successes, demonstrating its commitment to advancing labour law in South Africa. A notable highlight of the year was the highly successful National Conference held in September 2023 in Cape Town. The conference was inaugurated by the esteemed Judge President of the Labour and Labour Appeal Court, an event that underscored SASLAW's significance in the field of labour law.

A further highlight and milestone of this year, in conjunction with the invaluable credit of the National Vice President, Sean Snyman, as expressed by Venolan Naidoo, was the partnership between SASLAW and the Labour Court of South Africa, resulting in the first of its kind Pro Bono Backlog Project at the Labour Courts in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

This innovative project saw SASLAW members generously volunteering their time and expertise to tackle the backlog of cases in these critical courts. Through their hard work and dedication, they successfully addressed the longstanding issue of delayed cases, bringing swift and much-needed resolution to individuals seeking justice in the labour courts.

SASLAW's commitment to knowledge sharing and professional development was evident in the numerous seminars and webinars held throughout the year. These events featured industry-leading experts and provided a platform for legal professionals to stay updated on the latest developments in labour law.

The reappointment of Venolan Naidoo reflects the organisation's faith in his leadership and vision for the future of SASLAW. Under the guidance of the National Committee, the SASLAW community can look forward to another productive year as it continues to work diligently to enhance labour law practice in South Africa.
