London (UK) - Jodi Katz has been appointed the new Regional Managing Partner in London, taking over from Al Gourley.
Jodi is a corporate lawyer with extensive experience on complex cross-border transactions, having acted on numerous public and private financings, joint ventures and M&A transactions, with a focus on the natural resource sector.
Jodi has spent the majority of her career with Fasken, commencing in the Toronto office in 1999 and moving to the London office in 2002. She is qualified to practice law in Ontario and England.
During Al’s time as Regional Managing Partner, he raised the profile of the Firm’s London office, expanded its capabilities in equity capital markets, debt and project finance and M&A, grew the office from six lawyers to over 20. A globally-recognised resource lawyer, Al is also the Founder and Chairman of the World Association of Mining Lawyers based in Europe (https://www.waoml.com/). He has led many UK and Canadian initial public offerings, secondary and alternative finance transactions, as well as mergers and acquisitions, in the resource sector, particularly cross-border transactions involving Europe, Africa, Australia and Canada.
Fasken has named several new leaders in both Firm-wide and regional positions with the Regional Managing Partners in Alberta and South Africa remaining in place. This provides both continuity and momentum for the Firm as it continues its growth trajectory into the future.
“I would like to congratulate Jodi, and all of the new leaders,” said Firm Managing Partner, Martin Denyes. “I look forward to collaborating across the Firm as we continue to support our clients’ success across markets and ensure we are well-positioned to meet future needs.”
