Ottawa partner and Chair of Fasken's International Trade and Investment Group Clifford Sosnow comments on the accusations made by U.S. President Donald Trump that Canada charges high rates on American goods entering the country in an article published in The Canadian Press.
He comments on a social post from Donald Trump in which the President claimed that Canada imposes tariffs of 250 to 390 percent on various U.S. dairy products.
“It’s a highly inaccurate description of the situation. It gives the reader the sense there’s this immediate wall where dairy product can’t come into Canada. And that’s not true. It can come into Canada at a significant amount that’s tariff-free,” said partner Clifford Sosnow.
