Overview

“Trump’s tariff plan includes a ‘fallback’ in case fentanyl justification falters,” by Barbara Shecter, Financial Post

Ottawa partner and Chair of Fasken’s International Trade and Investment Group Clifford Sosnow comments on the future of CUSMA in an article published in the Financial Post

He comments on the provision included in an executive order from the U.S. President concerning tariff exemptions for any item eligible under the CUSMA trade agreement.

“Trump’s latest order has the effect of ‘safeguarding’ the CUSMA trade agreement and giving it special treatment in certain circumstances, with the notable exception of steel and aluminum,” said partner Clifford Sosnow.
