Robert is a lawyer, registered patent agent, and a registered trademark agent. He represents clients in all areas of technology, including software, communications, and energy, advising them on strategies for protecting and managing their intellectual property portfolios. Robert also has particular experience in protecting software innovations in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), financial technology (FinTech) and legal technology (LegalTech). As part of his practice, Robert places an emphasis on understanding his client’s goals, and ensuring that his client’s intellectual property strategies align with their business objectives.

Prior to joining Fasken, Robert worked at a Toronto intellectual property law firm. In addition, Robert has a background in Engineering, having previously been employed by major aerospace companies and defence contractors. He also has considerable experience as a software developer working in AI prior to being a lawyer.
