Overview

Rosa DeFilippis is member of the firm’s Real Estate group. Her practice is focused on serving corporate and estate clients in real estate related transactional work.

Frequently drafting and negotiating the real estate aspects of share and purchase agreements, Rosa assists clients with all associated due diligence and reporting requirements. With experience in financing transactions, Rosa has acted for both lenders and borrowers. She is also actively involved in the training and mentoring of junior associates developing their real estate practices.

Prior to joining the firm, Rosa held senior legal counsel and management positions with both private developers and government agencies. Recently, she acted as General Counsel to Parkway Sheraton, Best Western Hotels, and Captain Realty Inc. where she was responsible for the day to day management of the real estate development company and hotels.

  • Ring International Holding acquires Maricann for C$12.4 million and certain other property from Wayland Group, [Deal - Ring International Holding AG]
  • Contested sale by the receiver of Dianor’s Ontario mining claims free of royalty rights held by a third party, [Deal - Richter Advisory Group Inc.], The matter is important because it involved a novel legal issue. The lower court’s decision was the first in Ontario to find that the court in receivership proceedings can vest mining claims free of royalty rights. Lawyers and clients in the insolvency and mining space are closely watching the Dianor matter for guidance on the sanctity of royalty rights. The Ontario Court of Appeal decision, when released, will be highest authority in Canada on the point.
