On August 16, 2007, Harris Interactive® announced that it had acquired Decima Research Inc., a leading Canadian privately-held research firm. Harris Interactive paid US$21.3 million in cash up front for the firm, plus future consideration tied to growth and profitability. The newly combined entity will be now known as Harris/Decima and join the Harris Interactive North America group. A complete transition to the Harris Interactive global brand will take place within the next year. Harris Interactive was advised in this transaction by a team from Fasken Martineau that included Janice Javier and Kevin Clinton (corporate), Douglas New (Investment Canada), Angela Di Padova (competition) and Ronald Nobrega (tax).
