Raymond Chrétien was appointed Chief Federal Negotiator by the Ministry of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, from 2004 to 2008. With assistance from a team at Fasken Martineau, Mr. Chrétien's mandate included undertaking negotiations with the Grand Council of the Crees of Quebec aimed at implementing the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, and settling related litigation. These negotiations were successfully concluded by an historic agreement with the Crees of Northern Québec.
