On September 2, 2008, Handleman Company (Pink Sheets: HDLM) announced that it had successfully completed the sale of the assets of its Canadian music operations to a subsidiary of Anderson Merchandisers, L.P. of Amarillo, Texas. The sale included Handleman's music inventory and other selected assets related to its Canadian operations. Handleman was advised in this transaction by Fasken Martineau with a team led by Douglas New (competition/Investment Canada) and including, among others, Bruce Blain and Andrew Alleyne (corporate), William Bies, Paul Casuccio and Kevin Yip (tax), Alix Herber (employment), Peggy McCallum (pensions) and Dan Law (real estate).
