The IPP Peaking Power Generation Projects consist of a build-own-operate structure for two Greenfield Open Cycle Gas Turbine (OCGT) facilities. The two projects, known as Avon and Dedisa, were being developed by GDF Suez. The combined nameplate capacity of the plants will be 1 005 MW, with a 670 MW facility planned for near Shakaskraal, north of Durban, and a second 335 MW plant for Coega Industrial Development Zone, in the Eastern Cape. Fasken Martineau advised lenders in respect of financing of the project with a team that included Blaize Vance, Lara Bezuidenhoudt, Ashen Jugoo, Andrew Mitchell, John Janks, Jamie MacDonald and Tamsyn Zulch.
