On December 4, 2013, Mocial.Media Inc. (known as Hovr.it) announced that it had been acquired by Slyce Inc. Hovr.it is a Toronto-based company that has developed image recognition technology which allows users to search for products using images or photographs posted online and find retailers offering similar items. Slyce will be working with North American retailers on applications that will incorporate Hovr.it’s technology. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Mocial.Media was advised by a team of Fasken Martineau lawyers including Will Shaw and Tracy Hooey (corporate and securities), Arun Krishnamurti (corporate and information technology), and Jeff Dennis (strategic advice).
