On April 13, 2016, the Federal Court of Appeal denied an application for leave to appeal the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission’s decision denying an application by the Urban Alliance on Race Relations to require Rogers Media Inc.’s OMNI television stations to broadcast local newscasts and to require the CRTC to review its Ethnic Broadcasting Policy. Fasken Martineau lawyers Scott Prescott and Yael Wexler acted for Rogers Media Inc. in successfully opposing this application for leave to appeal.
