Altona Mining Ltd., an Australian junior mining company, was acquired by Canada’s Copper Mountain Mining Corporation for approximately A$93 million. The merger gives the Vancouver-based copper miner access to Altona’s assets, which include $30 million in cash, and a permitted development project in Queensland, Australia.
The combination of the two companies creates a mid-sized copper miner, with an expected annual production of about 73,000 tonnes of the metal.
Fasken represented Altona as its Canadian legal counsel, with a team including Andrew Gabrielson (Mining), Johanna Fipke (Mining, M&A) and Martin Ferreira Pinho (M&A).
