Overview

Client

Aldo Construction Inc.

As a result of its preclusion from carrying out a development project for two 28-storey towers of approximately 300 condos following the adoption of a by-law by the City of Laval in 2014, Construction Aldo Inc. and Lafleur Construction Inc. brought an action for damages against the City of Laval for disguised expropriation.

The lawsuit was largely reported in the media, and after a 30-day trial before the Superior Court, the Fasken team settled the lengthy lawsuit favourably.

A team including Nikolas Blanchette, Frédéric Gilbert and Mina Bakkioui worked full time on this file for several months (from fall 2019 to mid-March 2020).
