Fasken is committed to help Quebecers have access to fresh, healthy and nutritious food. Organizations that provide food and meals to those in need are key players in that respect. Year after year, they are increasingly solicited. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought an even greater demand, and has demonstrated these organizations’ importance for food security in their respective communities.
A team led by Patricia Hénault and generously supported by Deborah Furtado, Louis Thomas Bélanger, Joanie Lapalme and David Turgeon is offering legal services to two of these organizations: Moisson Rive-Sud and Resto Plateau.
Moisson Rive-Sud is part of the large family of the Quebec Food Banks (Banques alimentaires du Québec). Moisson Rive-Sud is the largest food bank in the Montérégie region, supplying more than a hundred organizations and distributing the equivalent of nearly $25 million worth of food per year.
Resto Plateau is a central organization for food and social autonomy in Montreal and its surroundings. Its community restaurant is a place of gathering and sharing, where nutritious meals are served at reduced prices. Resto Plateau also has a social integration mandate, offering professional training and access to employment assistance to about 100 people yearly.
Fasken is proud to offer its time and expertise to support such an important cause that is the eradication of food insecurity in Quebec.
