Our team is acting for Québec’s largest car insurers (Intact and Bélair) in the context of a class action instituted against car insurers across the province. The Application to authorize the class action seeks damages related to the alleged fact that (i) insurance companies raise premiums with respect to accident for which the driver and the insured are found to be non-responsible and (ii) fail to appropriately disclose that fact.
This litigation affects the whole industry and is a major class action in Québec.
A Fasken team composed of Alain Riendeau, Vincent Cérat Lagana, Noah Boudreau (Intact and Bélair), Sébastien Richemont, Christian Trépanier and Dave Robitaille (Industrial Alliance) acts for for the insurers in connection with this case.
