Alion Science and Technology Corporation

On October 27, 2016, the Government of Canada issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the largest public procurement in Canadian history, valued in excess of C$60 billion. Alion Science and Technology Corporation ("Alion") and its Canadian subsidiary were unsuccessful bidders. The RFP involves the Canadian Surface Combatant project and is being conducted under the umbrella of the National Shipbuilding Strategy. It will replace the Royal Canadian Navy’s fleet of destroyers and frigates with up to fifteen state-of-the-art warships of a single class. The Canadian Surface Combatant warships will become the backbone of the Royal Canadian Navy for several decades.

Alion is one of the world’s leading military engineering and technology companies, specializing in air, ground and sea weapons platforms; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; live, virtual, constructive training; modernization and sustainment of combat systems; military networks and software; and systems engineering and integration.

Fasken represents Alion in a legal challenge of this complex procurement with a team comprised of Peter Mantas, Alexandra Logvin and Gabrielle Cyr.
